ioPea™ Earns Spot as a Finalist in the Sports Nutrition Category for the 2023 NutraIngredient-USA Awards
Ingredient Optimized’s ioPea is powered by clinically studied protein technology for optimal absorption benefits.
May 21st, 2023–Ingredient Optimized’s® ioPea™ earns a spot for the 2023 Ingredient of the Year Award in the Sports Nutrition category of the NutraIngredients-USA Awards held by William Reed Business Media (WRBM) a leading publisher of digital newsletters, publications, and data sources for the food, beverage, and nutrition industries worldwide.
ioPea is a natural non-thermal atmospheric plasma-treated protein that enhances the ingredients’ structure to allow the body’s own digestive enzymes to work more effectively. The ingredient is unique in that its patented technology provides the benefits of whey as a plant-based option.
“Most protein supplements are not effectively absorbed, by altering the structure of proteins with natural atmospheric plasma technology ioPea is 3-5X more bioavailable and better absorbed than unaltered pea protein, said Stephen Motosko Founder, Ingredient Optimized. “The ability of the ingredient to perform as well as whey protein isolate makes it an ideal choice for consumers to achieve their performance goals with a plant-based option.”
At the forefront of ioPea’s clinical studies, two double-blind, randomized, crossover trials compared postprandial plasma essential amino acid (EAA) and branched-chained amino acid (BCAA) responses from various protein sources in resistance-trained men. The results showed that ioPea had greater bioavailability of leucine, BCAA’s, and EAA’s and was up to 3X more bioavailable overall compared to standard pea protein. In addition, there was no significant difference in the ioPea and hydrolyzed whey protein isolate in the ability to elevate plasma levels of BCAA’s and EAA’s, showing no superior absorption benefits when comparing standardized whey to ioPea.
ioProtein’s are backed by ten (10) clinical studies with substantiated claims for both absorption benefits and performance benefits. Some of the clinically substantiated claims for ioPea include:
ioPea increases total essential amino acid, branched-chain amino acid, and leucine absorption/bioavailability similar to hydrolyzed whey protein.
ioPea increases total branched-chain amino acid absorption/bioavailability by up to 576% more than consuming unaltered pea protein.
ioPea increases total leucine absorption/bioavailability by up to 556% more than consuming unaltered pea protein.
“Creating science-backed ingredients with clinically studied ingredients is part of our overall company strategy. We are excited to be included as a finalist in the Sports Nutrition Category for the 2023 NutraIngredients-USA awards and wish all the finalist luck in their respective categories,” said Chris Flynn-Rozanski, Founder, Ingredient Optimized.
Ingredient Optimized is a biotechnology company focused on improving the quality of protein and overall nutrition through their Ingredient Optimized technology. When their io isolate is a component ingredient, protein products are able to deliver superior protein absorption by the body, reduced stomach discomfort, and improved taste. Backed by scientific research and clinical trials, the io technology is able to improve health outcomes for the protein-deficient elderly and bodybuilders alike.
